Anyone with their own car can drive the 1.8 mile Grand Bayou Circuit at NPRP!
The Porsche Club or BMW Club Driver Education Events are the start unless you want to spend more than $3,000 for a professional
school like Skip Barber, Bertil Roos, or one of the many others. The Driver Education events (called DE's for short, are
the closest thing to a professional driving school that you can attend, within 5 hours from here, at a fraction of the cost.
It is also highly recommended to take one or more DE's to earn your way from newbie to a Grand Bayou Road Racing series license.
Besides, it is a great way to get seat time toward that license.
So, here are the steps to get a Racing License, OR, steps to get excellent instruction on the art of high speed driving,
accident avoidance, and greater enjoyment of your street vehicle:
|
1) Drive your own car (convertibles need a rollbar); your standard insurance applies to Driver Education, 2) Enroll in Porsche
Club or BMW Club "DE" event, 3) take one or two day instruction with an instructor, until you graduate to "Solo",
4) get signed off by three experienced drivers for a Novice Racing License!
